Arizona Fall League Recap: Game 5
By Eric Graff
Finally, a good day out in the desert for the Braves prospects out in the Arizona Fall League. The Scorpions dropped another game and made SIX errors, none from Braves guys, though, in the 7-6 loss. Here is how the box score broke down:
- Tommy LaStella – 1-3, R, 2 RBI, BB
- Robby Hefflinger – 2-4, R, 2B, RBI, K
- John Cornely – 1.1 IP, 0 ER, H, BB, K
Of course, Tommy LaStella continued his great bat work out there. Tommy again manned second base and hit in the 3 spot in the lineup. He walked, had a RBI single and a RBI groundout to go along with a flyout. LaStella is now 4-10 with 4 walks and 5 RBI, and has yet to strikeout. Robby Hefflinger finally made a mark in the hit column yesterday going 2-4 including a RBI double. Hefflinger, who started in left field and hit cleanup, got his first hits of the AFL season and is now 2-12 with 7 Ks. John Cornely had a rare good day for a Braves pitcher in the desert by going 1.1 scoreless innings allowing a hit, walking one and striking out one.
Overall, it was a bad day for the Scorpions, but a good day for the Braves prospects. The Scorpions will get back at it today and we will have the recap of the game right here tomorrow morning. Come back and check it out.
