Arizona Fall League Recap: Game 6
By Eric Graff
Only one Braves prospect got to hit yesterday, but we got to see two different pitchers have two very different outcomes. Here is a look at the box score:
- Robby Hefflinger – 1-3, BB, 2 K
- Aaron Northcraft – 2.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
- Juan Jamie – 2 IP, 1 H, 2 K, 0 R
Aaron Northcraft got his second start of the AFL season, and it did not go too well. He worked through the first 2 innings and gave up 3 hits, but held the Mesa team scoreless. It all fell apart in the 3rd inning for Northcraft, as he started off the inning with 2 walks and a 3-run homer. He then gave up a double and another walk before being replaced. Those two also eventually scored on an error, which is why those two runs were unearned. Northcraft has now pitched 5 total innings in Arizona and has given up 5 ER on 7 hits and 5 walks. He has struck out 6, but the walks are not a positive sign.
On the flip side, reliever Juan Jamie put together a quality outing. He went two innings only giving up a double and striking out 2. This was Jamie’s third appearance so far going 3.2 innings only giving up 1 run but walking 4. Robby Hefflinger was the only Braves position player to play yesterday, and had his second good game in a row. He singled, scored a run and walked in his 4 plate appearances.
The Scorpions are at it again today. We will have the review of the game tomorrow, come back and check it out.
