Before we get things started, be sure to check out our full-length preview from Friday afternoon, and you’ll get our more extended thoughts on what to expect from both teams today.
It seems obvious (to me, anyway) that this is yet another must-win spot for the Falcons (stop me if you’ve heard this before), as falling to 2-5 (with a relative gauntlet still remaining on the schedule) would spell disaster for playoff chances. Fortunately, the Cardinals aren’t exactly among the league’s elite and this is a very winnable spot for Atlanta.
The bookmakers in Las Vegas (who know everything, as you know) have actually made the Cardinals a favorite of between 1 and 2.5 points (depending on where you look), and that is a bit of a surprise. However, home field means a ton in this league, and that is certainly the impetus for that line. I feel that even the injury-riddled Falcons are a better team than Arizona, but it’s definitely not a walk-over victory here.
