Arizona Fall League & Dominican Winter League Weekend Recaps: 10/29
By Eric Graff
Arizona Fall League
There were mixed lines for the Braves prospects last night out in Arizona. Check ’em out here:
- Tommy La Stella – 1-4, 2B, K
- Robby Hefflinger – 0-3, 2 K
- Shae Simmons – 1 IP, 1 BB, 0 H, 0 ER
It was not a good night for the Scorpions hitters overall. Tommy La Stella had 1 of only 3 hits on the night for the Scottsdale team. La Stella doubled and struck out for the first time in AFL play, however one strikeout in 48 plate appearances is still outstanding. Tommy has cooled off since his sizzling start and now hasn’t walked in his last 4 games after walking 11 times in his first 7. He is still putting up really good numbers overall though (.351/.500/.622/1.122) and has an 11-game hitting streak, collecting a hit in every game he has played out there.
Robby Hefflinger, on the other hand, has hopped on the struggle bus. Hefflinger went 0-3 and hasn’t collected a hit in his last 3 starts. He also struck out 2 more times yesterday, and leads the AFL in whiffs with 18.
Shae Simmons continued to pitch well out in the desert with another scoreless inning yesterday. It was Simmons’ 4th straight scoreless outing and he has not allowed a hit over those 4 outings.
The Scorpions play again today at 12:35 MST.
Dominican Winter League
There was only one DWL game yesterday and no Braves prospects played.
We will be back with more updates tomorrow!
