Arizona Fall League & Dominican Winter League Recaps: 11/5

Arizona Fall League
Good games for everyone yesterday that played. Here are the lines:
- Tommy La Stella – 2-5, 2 RBI, 1 K, GIDP
- Robby Hefflinger – 1-3, run, 3B, BB, K
- Kyle Kubitza – 1-3, 2 runs, HR(1), RBI, BB, 2 K, SB
- Shae Simmons – 1 IP, 2 H, 3 K, HOLD
- John Cornely – 1 IP, 1 H, 2 K
After a collective terrible game on Friday, yesterday’s game was the exact opposite. The hitters hit well and the pitchers got outs. Tommy La Stella broke out of his little mini slump with a couple of hits and a couple of RBI. Robby Hefflinger nailed a triple, scored a run and walked. Kyle Kubitza had the best game of all, as he connected on his first home run of the AFL season, walked, scored twice, and stole a base. The Braves have to be happy with Kubitza’s numbers out in Arizona. He is putting up a slash line of .273/.396/.409/.805, and while he has struck out 19 times, he is also walking at a very good rate (17%).
Coming off his non-AFL Fall Star appearance, Shae Simmons pitched a scoreless inning and recorded a HOLD. After giving up singles to the first two batters he faced, Shae struck out the next three guys to preserve the scoreless inning. John Cornely also tossed a scoreless inning and recorded a HOLD. He gave up a single and struck out 2.
The Scorpions play today at 12:35 MST. We will be back tomorrow with more AFL updates.
Dominican Winter League
Pretty light day for Braves guys in the DWL yesterday. Here are the few lines:
- Yohan Flande – 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 K
- Omar Luna – 0-1
Yohan Flande, who hasn’t pitched much, was used for 0.2 innings, allowed a hit and struck a batter out. He didn’t allow a run. Omar Luna, who has played even less than Flande, went 0-1 was a defensive replacement.
There is only 1 game scheduled in the DWL today, so we may or may not have anything to report for it tomorrow. Check back with us to see if anyone plays.
