It appears as if our long, national (er, regional) nightmare is over, as the Atlanta Falcons are expected to have the services of star wide receiver Roddy White on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN’s Vaughn McClure (among others) is reporting that White professed his intentions to play as of Thursday morning, and all indications are that he was very, very close to playing last week against the Panthers. Obviously, any sign of White on the field would be a huge coup for the Falcons, who have been unable to generate any level of consistent offense in the absence of both White and Julio Jones (who is gone for the season).

That said, we honestly have no idea what to expect from White, as he has been limited and/or ineffective for the entirety of the 2013 season. The 32-year-old receiver has appeared in 5 games this season, but he hasn’t looked full-strength at any point, as evidenced by the fact that he only has 14 catches for 129 yards.

White’s role (and health) won’t be clear until play opens on Sunday afternoon, but it is unquestionably a positive to see number 84 on track to be in uniform against Seattle.
