Unfortunately, Georgia’s visit to the Charleston Classic has yielded two losses to Davidson and Temple, but their final game in the tournament has arrived, as the Bulldogs face-off with the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskers are currently 3-2 on the season, but they have also dropped 2 games in a row in order to create this match-up. Nebraska’s offense has been potent, however, ranking in the top-third of the nation while scoring 107.4 points per 100 possessions. Junior forward Terran Petteway is the player to watch for Nebraska, as their leading scorer (16.6 points per game) and 3rd-leading rebounder (4.8 rebounds per game) on the season.
As far as Mark Fox and the Dawgs are concerned, the defense has really struggled while in Charleston. They’ve allowed 80+ points in both games, and with that, have fallen out of the top 200 (yes, 200) in the nation in defense. On the whole, I’m not worried about the long-term defense, but shutting down a solid Nebraska offense would be a nice start.
Las Vegas has also installed Georgia as an underdog for the 3rd straight game, as Nebraska currently sits as a 4-point favorite. For me, this is a virtual coinflip game, and it’s going to come down to execution in the 2nd half to determine who exits with a win.
Stay tuned for more coverage, including a game recap after the final buzzer.
