On Wednesday, the Hawks’ sharpshooter tied Dana Barros for the all-time record for consecutive games with a made 3-pointer, and on Friday, he entered the game with the possibility to stand alone atop the NBA’s record book.

As you can tell by the title of this post, he was able to complete the task. The record-breaking triple went through the net with just over 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter, as Kyle converted his 2nd attempt of the night.

Many people (including ESPN’s Darren Rovell, most notably) have attempted to “pu pu” this record, by saying that it was “made up” or “didn’t matter”, but for me, it’s extremely impressive. Korver’s consistency and 3-point acumen are well-established, but to show up each and every night at this level and be able to knock down 3’s at this rate is something that sets you apart, and Kyle is one of the best marksman in the league.

It remains to be seen how far Korver can take this record, but if there’s anything I know about him at this point, it’s that he’ll be ready to go when the Hawks take the floor again on Tuesday against Oklahoma City.
