Greetings! The outside excitement level of this one certainly centers around who is playing quarterback for the opposing team, but it’s an equally “important” game for the hometown Atlanta Falcons in their quest for higher draft position.

On Saturday, we brought you a full-length preview of the game, but in simple terms, this is a battle of scuffling 3-10 teams with an eye toward the future. The Falcons have been playing much better football in recent days, and that is certainly encouraging, but there is still a full-fledged movement toward angling for losses in an effort to rise up the draft board. With that said, Washington is a very winnable game, especially given the venue where the game is played, and if Atlanta plays their current “best” level, that’s probably better than what Washington can put out with Kirk Cousins on the field.

Our pals in Las Vegas have opened this game with the Falcons as a 7-point favorite, and that is an indication of just what the experts think of Washington at this stage. It’s probably a bit high for my taste (given how ugly the Falcons have been at times this season), but as mentioned above, I do think Atlanta is a better team at (relatively) full strength, and it would be a disappointing loss.
