There have been rumblings for the better part of two weeks as to why sophomore guard Solomon Poole wasn’t playing for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and on Monday, a bit of clarity came down on Poole’s status with the program.
There has yet to be a reason given for Poole’s dismissal, but the writing has been on the wall since early January. Poole last appeared during a 12-minute stint against Duke on January 7th, and since then, he’s been missing in action while sitting out 7 consecutive games.
Multiple outlets had reported that Poole’s absence had something to do with migraine headaches, but until further details are uncovered on his release from the program, we are all left wondering. Prior to his disappearance from the floor, the guard from Jacksonville, Florida was averaging nearly 18 minutes per game, but his production was underwhelming from an efficiency standpoint, as he was only shooting 38.8% from the floor and committing nearly as many turnovers per game (1.9) as he dished out assists (2.1).
Stay tuned as more information is released, but Brian Gregory’s club will be short-handed moving forward.
