In what seems like the flash of an eye, Mark Fox’s team is one of the hottest in the SEC. The Georgia Bulldogs have won three straight games, and while the first two were at home in the friendly confines of Stegeman Coliseum, the Dawgs put a 20-point thumping on Mississippi State on the road on Thursday night. Now, however, UGA returns to Athens on Saturday as they face Mississippi State’s chief rival, the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Rebels are coming off of a 3-point loss to Alabama earlier in the week, but as far as resume is concerned, they have been the better team when compared to Georgia. Marshall Henderson is quite infamous in the world of college basketball, but he also provides their leading scoring punch (over 19 points per game), and he’ll be the chief worry for the UGA defense. Much like Georgia, Ole Miss is a “balanced” team that doesn’t dominate on either end, but at 16-8 overall and 7-4 in the SEC, they’ve been effective.

Las Vegas has installed Georgia as a 3-point favorite in the game (and KenPom projects a 2-point victory), and that gives a big-time nod to home court advantage. The Dawgs are playing quite well at the moment, but in all fairness to their last 3 opponents, Ole Miss is a different animal, and this is a significant challenge regardless of the venue where the game is played.

Stay tuned for updates as they arise.
