Future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez has been retired for just more than a month, but he has already secured a high-profile spot for the next phase of his career.

The Falcons and CBS both announced on Tuesday that Gonzalez has signed on to join their team full time as an NFL analyst on The NFL Today show, and this makes complete sense. Despite the recent “controversy” surrounding Gonzalez’s comments about Matt Ryan, the biggest story of this off-season with regard to Tony was where he would end up on TV, and this is a confirmation of that.

News has broken that both Shannon Sharpe and Dan Marino are on their way out at CBS, which makes room for Gonzalez, and frankly, I have zero doubt that he’ll be incredible on the small screen. Gonzalez is the best tight end in NFL history (at least in my view), but more than that, he’s an engaging personality with a million-dollar look/smile that is fit for TV, and Falcons nation should wish him the best in his next endeavor.
