Earlier in the week, Brian Gregory and the Yellow Jackets had a very tough time in a 17-point loss to Duke, but they’ve been in Atlanta all week in preparation for Saturday’s tip-off against Clemson, and they’ll have every opportunity to right the ship. For the first time all season, Tech has a .500 overall record (13-13), but this is a winnable spot in their home building despite the fact that they had some trouble on the road earlier in the year.

Clemson enters with a 16-9 mark overall and a 7-6 conference record in the ACC, and their reasonable level of success should be attributed to their defense. The Tigers are currently 10th in the country in defensive efficiency (allowing only 92.8 points per 100 possessions), and that should strike a bit of fear into the hearts of Tech fans. If there is a bright spot, though, Clemson has had some very real struggles offensively, and while defense travels better than offense, there is little chance of a blow-out here.

Our pals in Vegas have the Yellow Jackets as 1-point underdogs in this game, and that seems about right. KenPom has projected a 2-point loss for the Jackets in their home building, but that’s the definition of a toss-up, and with a few breaks (and some reasonable health for GT), expectations should be for a highly competitive game.
