Nearly two months ago, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were able to hold on to grab a 5-point win over Notre Dame, and on Wednesday night, the return engagement is set to take place in South Bend. It certainly won’t be easy, however, as the Jackets are struggling at the moment after dropping their second straight game in a home tilt against Clemson on Saturday, and on the road, nothing is a given.

The two teams enter with nearly identical records, as Tech sits at 13-14 overall and 4-10 in ACC play with Notre Dame at 14-14 overall and 5-10 in ACC play. Obviously, neither mark is sparkling, but the Irish do have a top-flight ability to score the basketball, and that is problematic for Brian Gregory’s club. Notre Dame is currently 39th in all of Division 1 in offensive efficiency (more than 112 points per 100 possessions), and while Tech’s defense has been far superior to their offense, shoot-outs don’t exactly favor the Jackets.

Our pals in Vegas have the Yellow Jackets as 6-point underdog in this game, and that basically indicates a slight nod to Notre Dame as the better team overall while factoring in the built-in advantage of playing at home. KenPom also has projected a 6-point loss for the Jackets on the road, and given their 4-8 mark away from McCamish Pavilion, it isn’t difficult to see why the pundits would give the edge to the Fighting Irish.
