We took a look at Georgia Tech’s road in the ACC tournament Tuesday, but today we’re going to take a deeper look into the first game for the Yellow Jackets.
To wrap up Day 1 in Greensboro, the Yellow Jackets are going to be trying to pick up their third win against Boston College this season. The Jackets took down the Eagles on January 21 on the road and then again on February 13 at home. But, that definitely doesn’t mean this is going to be a cake-walk for Georgia Tech. Both games were close, and the Eagles pulled out a huge upset against then No. 1 Syracuse.
Looking at the numbers, KenPom has Georgia Tech as the No. 113 overall team in the country and pegs Boston College as the 138th best team. Coming into the tournament the Eagles are one of the worst defensive teams out there. They allow 111.4 points per 100 defensive possessions (300th) which is great news for a Georgia Tech team that has struggled on the offensive end. On the other end of the court, Boston College actually does a pretty solid job. They score 114 points per 100 possessions (16th) and should provide a decent challenge for a solid Tech defense.
Vegas has the Yellow Jackets as 1.5-point favorites in this one, which is a bit lower than I would have expected.
