At first glance, it may seem to be a bit of a stretch to cover the Masters Golf Tournament in this particular space, but with one glance at the photo (or more specifically, Tweet) below, it will become crystal clear that Bubba Watson has a particular link to a team that we prominently feature.

The 35-year-old Watson entered Sunday at the Masters in a share of the lead with 20-year-old wunderkind Jordan Spieth, but when everything was said and done, Georgia’s own Watson came away with a 3-shot victory and his second green jacket. Watson drove the ball beautifully (and with phenomenal distance) throughout the week, but at times, the left-hander struggled mightily with the putter.

However, Watson took full advantage of a huge momentum shift in the middle of the round on Sunday, and from there, he kept his pedal to the floor to keep Spieth at arm’s length. After 6 holes, Bubba trailed Spieth by 2 shots (-8 to -6), but when Watson put up back to back birdies while Spieth rattled off two consecutive bogeys, the eventual champion claimed a 2-shot lead that he would never relinquish.

To be honest, Watson’s day was personified when he unleashed a massive 2nd shot on the Par 5 13th hole to approach the green despite holding a 3-shot lead. Watson did fail to generate any huge momentum off the play (he made par), but his willingness to take an aggressive stance in a moment that likely called for conservatism represents exactly the type of player that Bubba Watson has become.

Congratulations to a former Georgia Bulldog on a fantastic performance and a huge win!
