The Georgia Tech basketball program is reeling a bit in the wake of the announcement that star power forward Robert Carter will be transferring. However, there is some buzz on campus on Wednesday, as former Ole Miss center Demarco Cox, who is set to transfer, is reportedly on campus visiting Brian Gregory and company.
Kelly Quinlan of Rivals.com brings the report:
"Former Ole Miss center Demarco Cox is visiting Georgia Tech Wednesday. Cox has one year of eligibility left after a foot injury ended his junior season after just seven games."
While Cox likely isn’t a name that you know at this point in time, the 6-foot-8 big man has been a four-year player in the SEC, and he would be a nice get for the Jackets. As noted above, Cox gained an extra year of eligibility as a result of injury, but in his final season with the Rebels, he averaged 4.2 points (on 54% shooting) and 3.9 rebounds per game while appearing in every contest.
It is important to note that a simple visit isn’t cause to begin penciling in Cox for the 2014-2015 starting lineup, but on the bright side, Brian Gregory is clearly becoming active on the transfer market after Carter’s defection.
