Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves preview: Julio Teheran looks to bounce back

Monday’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers went pretty well for the Atlanta Braves, and less than 24 hours later, they’ll aim for their third consecutive victory as the same two teams square off at Turner Field. The headliner in this one, other than the potential continuation of a winning “streak” will be the bounce back attempt for Atlanta’s stud right-hander, Julio Teheran.

The 23-year-old Teheran battled issues throughout an ugly loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, and he complained about the inability to get a grip while allowing four runs and five walks in just over three innings. This is an issue that popped up for Teheran in last season’s playoffs, but at Turner Field, it has never been a problem, and even with that outing, Julio’s ERA is a sparkling 2.20 (with a WHIP of 0.96) on the season. Milwaukee’s lineup is also dominated by right-handers, which should play into the hands of Teheran if he has his full arsenal working.

On the opposite side, right-hander Yovani Gallardo will look to give the Brewers a lift, just one night after Wily Peralta was all over the place for Milwaukee. Gallardo struggled a bit last season despite being the long-time ace for the Brewers, but he has been back to form with a 3.07 ERA this season, and the 28-year-old has a 1.79 career ERA against the Braves over eight appearances. It will be interesting to see what the lineup looks like on Tuesday, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an identical unit from Monday with another right-hander on the mound.

Here is a look at the particulars for Tuesday:
