Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves: Memorial Day info thread

After a quality series victory at the expense of the Colorado Rockies over the weekend, the Atlanta Braves welcome the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox to Turner Field for the first of a four-game, two-city series. In addition, the start of the series happens to fall on Memorial Day, and that ramps up the intrigue a bit on both sides.

On the field, the story of the day is the fact that the Red Sox enter with a 10-game losing streak. They’ll send right-hander Clay Buchholz to the hill in this one, and he’ll have the chance to right the ship from an ugly start to the season that features a 6.32 ERA in nine appearances. Buchholz will be opposed by Atlanta’s Ervin Santana, who hasn’t been quite as sharp from his red-hot debut, and it will be interesting to see how Big Erv fares against a Boston offense that is sure to be highly motivated.
