Los Angeles Angels at Atlanta Braves preview: Hello, Turner Field

It has been more than two weeks since the Atlanta Braves hosted a “full” series at Turner Field, but with the arrival of the Los Angeles Angels to town on Friday, that trend has been broken. The Angels are playing much improved baseball this season, and with two nationally televised contests over the weekend, there will be many extra eyes on these two clubs.

The opener will bring the return of Aaron Harang to the mound for the Braves, and the big right-hander has been lights-out this season. As profiled earlier in the week, Harang has exceeded any rational expectation by posting a 3.33 ERA with nearly a strikeout per inning in his 13 starts, and while the Angels are capable of putting up big offensive numbers, the friendly confines of Turner Field should be beneficial.

Harang will be opposed by veteran left-hander C.J. Wilson for Los Angeles, and the 33-year-old has also had a resurgent season. At this point, Wilson is likely more famous for having a lavish contract than anything else, but he has rebounded with a very strong 3.32 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 13 starts this season, and the Braves will be in for a challenge in facing him.
