Kevin Ware granted immediate eligibility at Georgia State

Ron Hunter and the Georgia State Panthers have quickly become one of the bigger stories in the world of college basketball, and on Thursday morning, they received some positive news for the upcoming season. Just two months after news broke that he would transfer home to Atlanta, former Louisville guard Kevin Ware has been granted immediate eligibility with Georgia State.
The 21-year-old Ware is best known (unfortunately) for the horrific leg injury that he suffered during the 2013 NCAA Tournament, but he is a big-time addition for the Panthers. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 4.5 points per game off the bench for the 2013 National Championship team before suffering the injury, and while that may not seem like an “impact” player, his pedigree indicates that he will be highly useful, especially at a mid-major program.
Georgia State already possesses the best roster of any college basketball team in the state of Georgia, with All-American candidates in both R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow, and Ware simply adds to that. It will be interesting to see how Ron Hunter and company choose to deploy him in a crowded backcourt, but having quality depth is a luxury that few programs like Georgia State possess, and it should be a highly entertaining 2014-2015 campaign in Atlanta.
