Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies preview: can the lineup wake up in Philly?
After a 2-1 series victory against the Houston Astros, the Atlanta Braves are heading up to Pennsylvania to begin a four-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies are sitting at the bottom of the NL East at the moment and this should be scene as another great opportunity to take a series for Atlanta. With the Washington Nationals playing some extremely good baseball at the moment, the Braves need to take advantage of some of the lesser teams in the league, like they did with Houston.
Julio Teheran is on the mound for Atlanta, taking on Philly’s Kyle Kendrick.
Kendrick’s played the part of a No. 5 starter perfectly this season, with a 4.20 ERA (and similar FIP/xFIP numbers), a 5.44 K/9 and a 2.67 BB/9. His last outing was June 22 against the St. Louis Cardinals where he went six innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits, a walk and a strikeout.
The Braves desperately need to get the offense going, and it’s going to be pretty discouraging if they fail to do that against Kendrick. The Braves are the second worst team in runs scored, in the bottom third in wRC+ and one of the six worst teams in wOBA.
It’s time for the lineup to bare down.
