Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves preview: Nine in a row?

The Atlanta Braves are rolling, and after last night’s opening series win against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team’s season-best winning streak is at eight games.

Today, Aaron Harang will take the mound against Mike Bolsinger to try and extend that winning streak to nine games.

Harang: Harang has pitched extremely well for the Braves of late, and is coming off of back-to-back starts where he went at least six innings and gave up no more than two runs. His last game against Philadelphia was something of a miracle, as he worked around eleven hits, a pair of walks and two home runs and still just allowed two runs. On the season, Harang is posting a 3.69 ERA, an 8.09 K/9 and a 3.43 BB/9.

Bolsinger: Mike Bolsinger has more in common with Mike Minor than a first name. The 26-year-old rookie is posting solid peripherals, but getting extremely unlucky in the HR/FB department, with 17.1 percent of the fly balls he gives up going over the fence. That number is unsustainable and not a true indicator of Bolsinger’s talent as a pitcher. As the season wear’s on expect it and his 4.53 ERA to go down if his strikeout and walk numbers stay where they are. Bolsinger is racking up 7.83 strikeouts per nine innings and allowing 2.68 walks per nine.
