Mark Richt thinks Georgia Bulldogs will win SEC East

The Georgia Bulldogs have been picked to finish second in the SEC East by the media. This, of course, is not a gigantic slight, as South Carolina, who garnered more first place love, returns a quality roster of players after an 11-2 campaign. However, UGA head coach Mark Richt stated his plain disagreement with the media’s selection on Thursday at SEC Media Days.

It doesn’t get much clearer than Richt’s statement, and frankly, it is easy to agree with him. South Carolina also loses its quarterback in Connor Shaw, but the majority of people would likely assert that Georgia’s Hutson Mason is more likely to excel than South Carolina’s Dylan Thompson. With that on the table, Georgia has the best running back in the country in Todd Gurley, a stable of veteran wide receivers, and a defense that is extremely talented under a new (read: better) regime with Jeremy Pruitt.

Mark Richt simply giving his team the vote confidence about winning the SEC East isn’t anything earth-shattering, but in this case, I firmly believe he is on the right side.
