The Atlanta Braves took the final game of the three-game series with the Mets, and clinched a series victory by taking the final two games, as Mike Minor has officially come back into his own, allowing the Mets just one run in a 6-1 victory.

Minor went seven innings of four hit ball and allowed just a single run, which came in his last inning of work in the eighth. He also helped out his own cause on offense, driving home the first run of the game in the top of the second, scoring Andrelton Simmons, which was the only run for a while, until the top of the eighth, when Minor lead off with a double and came around to score on an Emilio Bonifacio triple.

The Atlanta offense was able to get to Mets starter Jonathan Niese a little bit, knocking nine hits off of him while bringing across three runs, but a majority of the damage came against Daisuke Matsuzakawho the Braves touched for four hits and three more runs. Surprisingly, it was Bonifacio who lead the way offensively tonight, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Chris Johnson and Minor were the only other Braves to record a multi hit game.

The victory keeps Atlanta alive in the Wild Card hunt, as they sit 1.5 games back of the Giants for the second and final spot, and are still technically afloat in the East, but are a full six games back of the Nationals.

This weekend will open up a major series against the Marlins which, if all goes well, could very well set the tone for a late run in September.
