With the roster inflated to accommodate up to 40 players in September, there is no reason for the Atlanta Braves to be shy with call-ups for potentially helpful pieces. Yesterday, we briefly touched on the absurdity that is Todd Cunningham languishing in the minor leagues, but on Friday, the team elected to promote right-handed reliever Gus Schlosser from Gwinnett in an effort to stock the bullpen for the upcoming series against the Miami Marlins.
RHP Gus Schlosser has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. He will join the team in Miami.

In truth, the 25-year-old Schlosser hasn’t been particularly effective in either stop this season. Through 99.1 innings (25 appearances, 15 starts) in Gwinnett, he has amassed a 4.17 ERA with more than 4 walks per 9 innings (yikes), and in brief stints with Atlanta, Schlosser has a 4.50 ERA over 12 innings in 10 appearances.
The addition of Schlosser, who has primarily served as a starter throughout the minors, gives the Braves insurance should a rain delay and/or starting pitcher injury occur, but aside from that, he is a luxury on the roster for the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for all the latest on the Atlanta Braves, including any potential promotions to the big league club.
