Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been a quality player from the moment he set foot in the league as a rookie starter in 2008, but on Sunday, he made history. The signal-caller connected with tight end Levine Toilolo for a third quarter touchdown, his second score of the day, and with that completion, Ryan vaulted into sole possession of first place on the franchise list for passing touchdowns.

After the touchdown throw to Toilolo, Ryan had accumulated 250 yards with 2 scores on the day (game in progress), but more than that, he has been a steadying force through a great deal of turmoil during his time in Atlanta. Pundits sometimes vary on their respect level for Ryan’s pure abilities as a passer, but he is a consensus top-tier option at the position, and Matt Ryan was at the peak of his powers in navigate the record-setting drive.
Congrats to Matt Ryan on a well-earned accomplishment!
