Atlanta Falcons punter Matt Bosher inks contract extension

The Atlanta Falcons have had a tremendous group of specialists in the kicking game over the last few years, and on Wednesday morning, word broke that the team has locked up two of them to long-term contract extensions. First, punter Matt Bosher will be remaining with the team, at least in theory, through the 2019 season with nearly $6 million in guaranteed money.

Then, the Falcons took the unique step of locking down their long snapper, Josh Harris, to a long-term contract that could keep him in Flowery Branch through the 2018 season.

With the relatively small sample size of two games, the 26-year-old Bosher still ranks in the top half of the league in net punting for the 2014 season, and in 2013, he finished sixth in the category, netting 41.1 yards per kick. More than that, though, Bosher has become a cult hero for his tackling prowess in kick coverage, and he is certainly a fan favorite. In the case of Harris, it is always a good thing when you don’t know the name of the long snapper (at least for the casual fan), and he has been extremely consistent in his time with the club.
