Atlanta Braves vs. Pittsburgh Pirates preview: Aaron Harang vs. Francisco Liriano

facebooktwitterreddit

The Atlanta Braves have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. After allowing the Nationals to celebrate on their field, the team proceeded to get swept by the Mets, officially sending them into vacation mode (although it is apparent they gave up long ago).  The Pittsburgh Pirates come into town with things still to play for, while the Braves can’t get this season over with fast enough. Check back with ATL All Day in the coming days as there are reports that changes may be coming to the Braves before the season ends.

The Pitching Match-up:

The Pirates, coming off their series win against the Brewers, will send Francisco Liriano to the mound while Aaron Harang takes the bump for the Braves. Liriano has pitched better than his 6-10 record. He has a 3.45 ERA and is coming off a solid start against the Red Sox in where he pitched 6 solid innings allowing only 3 hits and 1 ER.

On the Atlanta side, Harang is also coming off one of this best starts of the season. Last week, he navigated seven innings, holding the Nats to 2 runs on just 5 hits. Normally, I would say this would be a match-up worth watching, but the Braves are borderline un-watchable at this point.
