Oddsmakers set Atlanta Hawks over-under at 41 wins
By FanSided
The 2014-2015 NBA season is on its way, and the leading oddsmakers in the country have noticed. First, the Westgate SuperBook (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton and/or the LVH) released their over/under odds just over a week ago, and now, online bookmaker Bovada has followed suit with their own set of over/under numbers. In the Westgate version, the Atlanta Hawks were set at 40.5 wins, but in Bovada’s listing, the Hawks take a slight bump to 41 wins.
On the surface, this seems like an incredibly low number, given last year’s 38-win finish without the services of Al Horford for nearly three-fourths of the year, but at the same time, public perception appears to indicate that most expect some improvement from the rest of the Eastern Conference. Atlanta’s 41-win projection would rank eighth in the East according to Bovada, trailing Cleveland, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Charlotte, Miami and Brooklyn, and we will let you draw your own conclusions there.
In profiling some of the “expert” predictions prior to the season, there have been positive reports ranging into the high-40’s, while more conservative estimates placing the team outside the playoff picture. Only the season remains, however, and it will be interesting to see what the final outcome is, especially if the team remains somewhat healthy over 82 games.
What do you think about the listed odds? Should the Atlanta Hawks be garnering more respect? Be sure to let us know your thoughts and predictions in the comment section below, and stay tuned to ATL All Day for the latest in Atlanta sports!
