Atlanta Hawks at Memphis Grizzlies preview: Preseason continues

For the first time during the 2014-2015 preseason, the Atlanta Hawks will venture away from the friendly confines of Philips Arena, as they travel to Memphis to face the Grizzlies on Saturday evening. The Hawks opened with a comfortable win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, and the team should receive an injection with the return of two starters in this match-up.

Both DeMarre Carroll (ankle) and Kyle Korver (personal reasons) are slated to make their preseason debut on Saturday night, and that is always a good sign for Atlanta. The Hawks leaned heavily on Thabo Sefolosha, John Jenkins and training camp invite Jarell Eddie on Monday evening, but it will be nice to get back to a sense of normalcy with the shooting of Korver and the defense of Carroll on full display.

The NBA preseason is simply an opportunity to get a look at some basketball prior to the “real” season’s start, and in the case of the Atlanta Hawks, there really isn’t a position battle or roster situation to monitor closely. However, the team will once again be without Al Horford, Kent Bazemore and Pero Antic as a result of injury, giving the aforementioned Jarell Eddie and, potentially, Dexter Pittman the opportunity to audition for other NBA teams.
