The Atlanta Hawks fell for the first time in the exhibition slate to gear up for 2014-15, as the Memphis Grizzlies out-scored the Hawks in all but one quarter in route to a 93-88 win on Saturday night.

Four Hawks scored in double figures, and the team was led by John Jenkins with 15 points on 5-for-6 shooting and 2-for-3 from 3-point distance. Dennis Schroder (14 points, 3 assists), Shelvin Mack (11 points, 8 assists) and Mike Scott (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) followed suit, and 2014 first round draft pick Adreian Payne led the team in rebounds with eight, while also recording four blocks in his 20 minutes on the floor. Al Horford, Elton Brand, Pero Antic and Kent Bazemore did not appear in the game, with Brand as a “healthy scratch” while Horford, Antic and Bazemore continue their rehab process from past injuries.

The Grizzlies had two 20 point scorers on the evening – Marc Gasol with 21 and Mike Conley with 23, which led all scorers. Both teams shot decently from the floor, with Atlanta going 42.7% while the Grizz shot just above that at 43.3%s. The Hawks struggled at the line, making 16 of 22 while Memphis was a perfect 17-17.

The Hawks are off until Tuesday, when they’ll travel to face the new look Miami Heat for a 7:30 tip off. Stay tuned to ATL All Day throughout the season for the latest coverage of the Atlanta Hawks.
