Todd Gurley won’t travel with Georgia to Arkansas
According to a recent story from Chip Towers, with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Todd Gurley won’t be traveling with the Georgia Bulldogs to Arkansas as they take on the Razorbacks. This is the second game that Gurley is going to miss for UGA after becoming involved in an NCAA investigation for improper benefits.
Towers writes that UGA officials haven’t commented on Gurley’s eligibility, but because of the NCAA reinstatement process and where Georgia is currently at, it wouldn’t be possible for Gurley to be cleared in time to play Saturday. Here’s what Towers says about the process and Georgia’s current position in that process:
"The NCAA on Thursday evening confirmed that it has yet to receive the investigative report from UGA. Georgia’s compliance staff has been overburdened of late as it had to ready for a major infractions hearing in Indianapolis on Wednesday. UGA had that meeting in the morning, then met with eligibility staff later in the day while they were in the city that houses the NCAA’s headquarters. That the NCAA has not received the results of UGA’s investigation is key because it means its committee on eligibility cannot deliberate the findings and issue a ruling. Persons familiar with the process have told the AJC it takes at least 24 hours to turn around an eligibility case and the committee does not meet on weekends."
In the meantime, the Bulldogs will have to prepare for Arizona without their No. 1 player. For more information on that matchup, check out our full preview of the game here.
