Atlanta Hawks Land 15th in CBS Power Rankings

The Atlanta Hawks are 1-1 on the season, but that so-so start has not reflected badly on the team’s overall outlook in some circles. Matt Moore of CBS Sports has released his first “in-season” set of power rankings, and in doing so, he has actually lifted the team from 16th (preseason) to 15th among the league’s 30 teams.

Here is what Moore had to say about the Hawks at this point:

"The Hawks had a rough opener, having to travel to Toronto, then took care of the Pacers. They’ve got The Spurs, Hornets, and the Knicks twice before they hit a weak team in nine days. We’ll find out about the Hawks pretty quickly."

As referenced above, Atlanta has a bit of a chaotic schedule beginning with the defending champion Spurs on Wednesday night, but at full strength, the Hawks could be up to the challenge. The trio of Al Horford, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague performed quite well in the home opener on Saturday evening, and with Kyle Korver still around to knock down jump shots to go along with an improved bench, things are looking up for the on-court product.

What are your thoughts on the team in the early season? Should they be ranked better than “league average” as CBS may suggest? Let us know below.
