Georgia Bulldogs vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs Preview: Battle of New York
By Brad Rowland
The Georgia Bulldogs have rebounded nicely after a season-opening loss with three consecutive wins, but that positive streak will be put to a severe test on Wednesday night. Mark Fox and company will take the floor at Madison Square Garden in New York as part of the NIT Season Tip-off, and on the other end of the floor, the Dawgs will encounter a top-10 team in America in the form of the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
In addition to this serving as the “battle of the bulldogs”, Gonzaga is an extremely talented team that has been projected as a final four contender in some circles. The Zags are very deep, but they are led by their backcourt of Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell Jr., making this a primetime match-up for UGA’s guard duo of Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines.
Georgia will also have their hands full up front, with former Kentucky big man Kyle Wiltjer and potentially familiar name in Domantas Sabonis. To be quite honest, this game should serve as the biggest test for the Georgia Bulldogs on the hardwood until they get deep into their SEC schedule, and it would be a bit of a surprise if UGA were to upend Gonzaga, even on a neutral floor in the Big Apple.
