It’s here. The Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets each look forward to this day filled with “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” for 364 days, and today, we have arrived. This year’s contest is extremely meaningful on both sides, with Paul Johnson and Mark Richt each sporting top-16 rankings according to the College Football Playoff committee, but to be honest, “extra” stakes would not be needed in order to guarantee plenty of fuel and focus on both sidelines.
As of the time of this particular post, the Bulldogs are listed as a 13-point underdog in this game, and while that may seem incredibly lopsided to Georgia Tech supporters (or even UGA faithful), it should be noted that it actually opened higher, with Georgia as a 14.5-point favorite earlier in the week. The general perception nationally is that Georgia is the more talented team from top to bottom, but that isn’t a shock, and the Ramblin’ Wreck will be reliant on execution in their triple option offense to overcome that perceived disadvantage in pure strength and speed.

Still, this game could simply come down to which quarterback operates its offense better, as Hutson Mason navigates the waters through the air with a cast of veteran receivers, while Justin Thomas attempts to read opposing defensive ends spotlessly to generate room for the option pitch.
