Georgia Tech vs. Rhode Island Preview: Aiming for back-to-back wins

Brian Gregory and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets managed to emerge with a hard-fought win over Rider on Friday evening in Orlando. Their prize for grabbing a victory in that game is the third and final contest during their journey through Florida, as the Jackets will face the Rhode Island Rams on Saturday evening.

Like Georgia Tech, Rhode Island enters with a 4-1 record, and the only defeat suffered by the Rams came at the hands of perennial power Kansas on November 27. While the opponent may not possess the power of a “big name”, Rhode Island is not a team that can be taken lightly, as KenPom currently ranks the Rams in the top-90 nationally, and they have produced a defensive efficiency rating of 94.1 points per 100 possessions on the year.

As noted previously, the key for Georgia Tech at this point appears to be guard play, as the veteran stable of frontcourt players has performed admirably for the Ramblin’ Wreck. It will be interesting to see how Tadric Jackson, Travis Jorgenson and the rest of the guards play in this spot, especially during their third game in as many nights.
