Georgia Tech rises to 11th in latest College Football Playoff Rankings
By Brad Rowland
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are rapidly ascending in the minds of the College Football Playoff committee. On the heels of their last-second victory over the Georgia Bulldogs, Paul Johnson and company have risen five spots in this week’s release, landing in the 11th spot.
This lofty position for the Yellow Jackets is not unexpected, as the Ramblin’ Wreck are one of only a handful of two-loss teams in America. Unfortunately for any fans searching for an opportunity for the Jackets to sneak into the legitimate playoff discussion, Tech ranks third-lowest among that group (ahead of only Missouri at 16th and Boise State outside of the top 20), and even with a win over Florida State, there would have to be real chaos in order for Georgia Tech to ascend into that discussion on a legitimate basis.
Still, it is unquestionably motivating for the fan base and the team to receive some national respect, and with the ACC Championship in their sights in just a few days, there is real buzz surrounding the Georgia Tech football program. What do you think about where they land in the latest rankings? Too high? Too low? Tell us in the comments!
