Leonard Floyd to return for 2015 season with Georgia Bulldogs
By Brad Rowland
In a bit of a surprise move, it appears that Georgia Bulldogs pass-rusher Leonard Floyd will be returning for the 2015 season in Athens.
Mark Richt, in the midst of the team banquet on Saturday evening, announced that Floyd will be returning for his redshirt junior season. Although some have discussed Floyd’s performance in 2014 as an underachievement, the versatile and explosive defensive player is a projected first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. ESPN draft insider Mel Kiper Jr. currently has the sophomore as his 17th overall player in this draft class ($), meaning that Leonard Floyd would likely be giving up a pile of money with this choice. In addition to Floyd, Richt also announced that Malcolm Mitchell and Jordan Jenkins will be coming back for another season.
It should be noted that Mark Richt’s “announcement” does not necessarily mean that Leonard Floyd would be unable to leave Athens in the next few weeks if he so chooses, but it is undeniably a positive sign for next year’s Georgia Bulldogs. Stay tuned to ATL All Day for the latest from Athens.
