Georgia Tech vs. Vanderbilt Preview: Non-Conference Fun
By Brad Rowland
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a rather unexpected 7-2 record on the 2014-2015 season, but Brian Gregory’s team will put that record on the line on Saturday, as they host the Vanderbilt Commodores in Atlanta. It is always nice to see a “friendly” battle between major conference opponents in December, and this certainly fits the bill, with Vandy entering with an identical 7-2 record.
Ken Pomeroy lists the Jackets as a 2-point favorite in the game (and he is smarter than I am), but even with that edge, this is a theoretical toss-up. Georgia Tech bounced back from an unsightly loss to USC-Upstate with a solid win over Appalachian State on Monday, but this is a significant step up in competition, even with some remaining skeptical of the Commodores as an upper echelon team in a down SEC. With that, this could be an important test for Brian Gregory’s team.
