The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Norfolk State Spartans, 63-50, in their final non-conference tuneup before they enter their SEC schedule. Mark Fox’s team has won six straight games and the Bulldogs are now 7-0 at Stegeman Coliseum this season.

The game went back and forth between both teams early on, as the Bulldogs led 18-17 at the 7:03 mark in the first half. Norfolk was able to frustrate Georgia early by stopping them inside with six blocked shots.  The Bulldogs went on an 18-6 run to open up the game and take a 36-23 halftime lead. The team was led by guard Charles Mann’s 7 points and 7 rebound, while guard JJ Frazier also added 8 points off the bench.

Norfolk State got off to an 11-2 run to open the second half to close the Georgia lead to 38-34. The Bulldogs followed with a 7-0 run to open the game back up to a double digit lead, and things were never in doubt again, to the point where the Spartans never got closer that for the remainder of the contest.  Norfolk was held to 19 for 66 shooting overall from the floor by Georgia and committed 24 fouls that allow the Bulldogs to shoot 20 free throws compared only eight by the visiting Spartans.

The Georgia Bulldogs got a strong game from JJ Frazier, as he had a career-high 20 points and also chipped in 5 rebounds despite his diminutive frame. Guard Charles Mann had a double-double for Georgia with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Norfolk was led Jeff Short’s 16 points as he was the only Spartan to produce a double digit scoring effort.

Next up, the Georgia Bulldogs will enter SEC Conference play, as they will defend their home court against the Arkansas Razorbacks on January 6. Stay tuned to ATL All Day for all the latest on UGA hoops.
