Georgia Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers Preview: Tough Spot in Baton Rouge

facebooktwitterreddit

Mark Fox and the Georgia Bulldogs are, unfortunately, 0-1 in conference play, and the schedule does not get any easier for the team from Athens. Earlier in the week, the Dawgs suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks in Stegeman Coliseum, but on Saturday, Georgia will face off against the LSU Tigers in a very difficult game in Baton Rouge.

However, the Tigers are reeling a bit as they enter this particular contest, as LSU fell victim to Missouri in an overtime loss on Thursday evening. This was an interesting reminder of the highs and lows for the Bayou Bengals, who do boast two NBA-caliber frontcourt players in Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey, but Johnny Jones and his crew are also fully capable of laying an egg at an inopportune time.

More from Georgia Bulldogs

This is a game that the Georgia Bulldogs are not expected to win, but in the same breath, a positive performance would certainly give this crew a victory. Expect the duo of Marcus Thornton and Nemanja Djurisic to have their hands full up front, leaving UGA fully reliant on a quality game from their veteran backcourt comprised by Kenny Gaines, Charles Mann and reserve J.J. Frazier.

“Must win” games are few and far between early in the season, and this one does not quality for that moniker. Still, it would be very beneficial to Georgia’s NCAA Tournament hopes to grab a big win on the road here, and that places additional emphasis on this particular game.
