Atlanta Falcons listed at 40-to-1 to win 2016 Super Bowl

It is never too early to look ahead to the 2015 NFL season, and that is evident in the world of handicapping. The Atlanta Falcons finished the 2014 season with a blowout loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in Week 17, and that defeat cost Mike Smith his job and the team a playoff berth. With that as the backdrop, the Falcons are listed with 40-to-1 odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl.

The listed odds, provided by online bookmaker Bovada, place 13 teams in the NFL ahead of the Falcons, with a 10-way tie at the same odds that Atlanta receives. Of note, the New Orleans Saints are the de facto NFC South favorite according to this list, with the Carolina Panthers tied with Atlanta and the stumbling Tampa Bay Buccaneers bringing up the rear.

These numbers are, of course, purely for information purposes only, but what do you think the chances are of an Atlanta Falcons run to the Super Bowl in 2016? Be sure to tell us in the comments, and stay tuned to ATL All Day for the latest.
