Georgia Bulldogs vs. Tennessee Volunteers preview: Focused on a bounce-back
By Brad Rowland
The Georgia Bulldogs need a win. Mark Fox’s club fought valiantly in Lexington on Tuesday before surrendering in an 11-point loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, and when coupled with a previous defeat against South Carolina, the Dawgs are in the midst of an untimely losing streak. Still, Georgia sits with a 5-4 record in SEC play, and with a more than winnable home game against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, there is no need for panic.

Our pals at KenPom.com list the Bulldogs as a 9-point favorite in the game (with Las Vegas and off-shore outlets sitting between 6.5 and 7 points) and everyone seems to agree that UGA is the better team here. Marcus Thornton could return for the Dawgs, which would be a big lift, but even if he can’t go, the talent in red and black likely outweighs the talent in orange here.
Based on strong computer ratings (and more), the Georgia Bulldogs are still in great shape with regard to an NCAA Tournament bid. Still, this is the type of game that can cost you an opportunity to reach the Big Dance, and Fox’s group needs to take care of business here.
