The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets get one step further from the bottom of the ACC with good home win today against the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest.  The 73-59 win today was their first home victory this season in the conference.  Brian Gregory’s team is now 2-9 in ACC play and 10-12 overall for the season.

The Yellow Jackets put together a strong first half and lead comfortably most of the session.  With some strong defense early they started off with 11-3 and held the Demon Deacons to 1 for 12 shooting on their first 13 shots from the floor.  Wake Forest had a few runs early but Tech was able to stretch the lead back out to double digits each time.  The Jackets shot the ball well from behind the arc going 6 for 10 from 3 point range before the intermission.  The Tech effort was guards Chris Bolden’s 11 points to contribute to their 34-22 advantage before halftime.

Georgia Tech continued to put the pressure on the Demon Deacons opening up the half with an 11-2 run.  The never looked back as they led by as many as 21 but never let Wake Forest come within 14 points for the majority of the game.  The Yellow Jackets continued their force their opponents into bad shots as Wake Forest only shot 29% from the floor for the game and 26% from 3 point range.

The Yellow Jackets had 3 players score in double figures and were led by forward Charles Mitchell’s 15 points and 6 rebounds.  Chris Bolden and Marcus Georges- Hunt added 14 and 13 points respectively for Brian Gregory’s ball club.

Wake Forest was led by 19 points from forward Cornelius Hodge and they also got 15 from Konstantinos Mitoglou but not much else from the rest of the Demon Deacons.
