The Atlanta Hawks bounced back from their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday, thanks to a season-high scoring performance from Al Horford, who led the team to a 117-105 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The big man scored 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting and a 6-for-7 effort from the free throw line, in an impressive performance after a lackluster shooting display Sunday. Paul Millsap also bounced back from his mediocre Sunday, and finished with 19 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

DeMarre Carroll had a huge game of his own tonight, scoring 26 points after making nine of his 13 shots, going 2-3 from deep and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.

Still, it was Horford who owned this game, and that was never more important than when he scored nine straight points for the team in the fourth quarter to end a comeback attempt from Andrew Wiggins and the T’Wolves.

As a team, Atlanta shot 51.2 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from 3-point range (10-for-21) with Kyle Korver leading the way from beyond the arc.

The sniper scored 12 points on the night–all of those coming from the 3-ball. Korver shot 4-of-6 from deep and added five rebounds and a block as well.

Yet again, the Hawks were destroyed on the boards (50-36), but the team’s defense was stout enough to prevent that from becoming a real issue. It will be something to watch as the season progresses however, as good teams will be able to take advantage of that difference.

Next up for Atlanta is a trip to the Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
