The Georgia Bulldogs got a big road win against a quality SEC team.  Georgia defeated the Aggies of Texas A&M 62-53 in College Station, TX.  Mark Fox’s team is now 7-4 in conference play this year and 16-7 overall for the season.  Tonight’s win puts the Bulldogs in a tie for 4th place in the conference standings with the Aggies.

Georgia and the Aggies battled back and forth in a highly contested first half.  Both ball clubs started off good offensively hitting some big baskets early.  The Bulldogs were able to gain a slight advantage with a 6-2 run around eight minutes before the intermission.  Although the Dawgs led for the rest of the period they never could break away from Texas A&M as the final at the half was 34-31.  Both teams locked down on defense later in the half and neither had a major advantage in any statistical category.  Georgia was led in scoring by guard Kenny Gaines who had 10 points heading into the locker room.

The game started out in the second half the same way the first one ended.  Defense was a lot tighter after the intermission for both teams.  The Bulldogs took control over the game with a late 10-2 run and never looked back.   Georgia took over a game that saw 8 ties and 7 lead changes.  The Dawgs did it with suffocating defense and forcing the Aggies into 13 turnovers for the game.

The Bulldogs had three players who finished with double-digit scoring efforts.  The team was led by guards Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann who had 15 and 14 points respectively.

Texas A&M got 20 points and six rebounds from guard Alex Caruso while guard Daniel House chipped in 14 points for the Aggies.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a home game at Stegeman Coliseum against the Tigers of Auburn on February 14.
