K.T. Harrell pushes Auburn Tigers over Georgia Bulldogs
K.T. Harrell–one of the best 3-point shooters in the nation–pushed his Auburn Tigers over the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday afternoon, with 21 points and a clutch 3-pointer late in the game to win 69-68 in Atlanta.
Georgia was up 61-55 with 3:25 left in the first half, but Harrell made four shots in a row for the Tigers, including a 3-pointer to take a 65-53 lead with 59 seconds left. After that, the Bulldogs wouldn’t be able to battle back.
This loss gives them their eighth of the season and fifth in conference play, where they have a 7-5 record.
Harrell was easily the player of the game for his performance down the stretch, but led both teams with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and a 2-for-6 display from beyond the arc.
For Georgia, Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann led the way, with the former scoring a team-high 18 points and the latter scoring 14.
It wasn’t a great shooting display for the Bulldogs, as they managed just a 37.7 percent mark from the floor and a brutal 4-for-19 (21.1 percent) from deep. Meanwhile, Auburn shot 44.9 percent from the field and 7-for-17 (41.2 percent) from the 3-point line.
In a game that was decided by just one point, those shooting numbers obviously hurt to look at–even a mediocre shooting game would have been enough to get the victory. That clearly wasn’t the case though.
Georgia gets back in action Tuesday at 7 p.m. against South Carolina.
