So Where Do I Rank Vic Beasley?

Vic Beasley has been compared to Bruce Irvin, which is a feather in Vic’s helmet!

Beasley is widely regarded as one of the most capable and pure edge rushers we’ll see in the upcoming NFL Draft this year.

Many scouts think that he needs a good deal of fine-tuning, but that’s to be expected, right? I mean no matter how good a college linebacker performed as an amateur, the pro game is faster, tougher, and more is expected when you’re getting paid.

Beasley has all the tools to be a standout, Pro Bowl type linebacker, and once he gets some better coaching and seasoning, whatever team fortunate enough to snag Beasley will be blessed indeed.

He is without a doubt my own personal #1 pick for the best edge option rusher in the draft, and the Atlanta Falcons would be foolish, given their needs, not to do all they can to grab him.

According to Josh Alper’s article just this morning on NBC’s Pro Football Talk, Beasley certainly wants to play for the Atlanta Falcons. He had a meeting with coach Dan Quinn, and was reportedly told by Quinn he’d be a good fit in Atlanta. Doh!

When asked about their chat and Dan’s approach with the Seattle Seahawks, Beasley said…

"He just said that he had guys like Bruce Irvin and other similar guys to me that could play that Leo position. That’s kind of where we connected right there. I fit the Leo position because a guy like Bruce Irvin, we’re similar body types. And we have similar games. We’re both great edge-rushers."

Of course a LEO is essentially an undersized DE type, specializing in pass rushing. I’d say Beasley fits that bill quite well.
