CSN Washington

Atlanta Sports News – ATL All Day Editorial Note: Some Braves’ fans loved the Nick Markakis signing, some not. Some thought it a sign the Braves are not really rebuilding (what?), some know better. Either way, Nick will make his first spring start in a couple weeks, and Chase Hughes of CSN Washington reports.

Braves’ biggest free agent signing nearing spring debut

"Shortly after they signed outfielder Nick Markakis to a free agent deal this offseason, the former Oriole had to have surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck. It was an ominous start to a four-year contract and raised many eyebrows among Braves fans."

COULD DRAFT INCLUDE QUINN-FOWLER REUNION?

"The 2015 NFL Draft is just more than 50 days away. Until then, nobody knows for sure what the Falcons will do with their No. 8-overall pick.Among the many intriguing draft scenarios is a possible reunion between Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and Florida’s Dante Fowler, Jr., who began his collegiate career with Quinn serving as his defensive coordinator in 2012."

Atlanta Sports News – Atlanta Hawks News

Peachtree Hoops

Atlanta Sports News – ATL All Day Editorial Note: We knew the Atlanta Hawks would rest most of their starters against the struggling Philadelphia 76ers, and they did. They rest Kyle Korver, Paul Milssap, and DeMarre Carroll. Even without some of their guns though, they sill managed to put up 84 points in the loss to the 76ers. Check out the recap by Kris Willis of Peachtree Hoops.

Hawks vs Sixers: Atlanta comes up short in Philadelphia

"The Atlanta Hawks rested players on Saturday and it finally cost them a game in a 92-84 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Only the Sixers know if they used the absences of Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll as motivation, but they made just enough plays down the stretch to pull out a victory over a cold shooting Hawks team.“A lot of our guys got to learn and grow,” Mike Budenholzer said. “It wasn’t our best night, but sometimes you learn from those as much as your good nights.”"
